I developed the design for this flier, which promoted a classical concert celebrating Greek folk music. I wanted to find a clever way to weave in folkloric elements.
Embroidery is a big, albeit fading tradition of provincial Greece. I ended up adapting an embroidered pillow design that my grandmother handstiched. As a child, I remember this pillow adorning an elegant sofa in her home, so it's a piece of nostalgia that's near and dear to me. I picked this particular pattern because of the fiery, bold shapes and simple two-tone color scheme. The original design adorns the bottom of the flier, while the top grabs one of the hollowed-out larger elements.
